With Sage, Art In the Age have another achievement of wonderful flavor. The idea traces back to Bernard McMahon’s “American Garden Journal” from 1806. Seems McMahon was the father of New World Gardening and with his writings he taught settlers of the 130 plants discovered by Lewis and Clark in their expedition. Sage is crafted using 16 flavors that popped up in McMahon’s Journal as a tribute to the man who was a mentor to Thomas Jefferson, along with—just about—every US gardener in the 19th Century. This “Garden Spirit”, as it is being classified, is based on an early American practice of making your own infusions from your garden. Every family had their own spin, based on preference and what was locally available. So for the fourth Art in the Age is a twist on this “garden spirit” using edible botanicals recorded by McMahon and grown by Jefferson, as always, it is responsibly harvested and 100% Organic. The aromas burst with astonishing scents of forest floor, chamomile, flowers, mountain side and a herb garden that you are dragging your hand through; the aromas are HUGE. The flavors do not disappoint, big, lyrical repeats of the aromas in a sultry palate demonstration that is creamy, evolved, complex and lingering. The finish lays down a field of byzantine, clean herbs that fade delicately. Try this as a chilled shot or as a swaggering vodka or gin substitute in a myriad of cocktails and savor it!
