The oldest and rarest expression in the Orcadian vintage series, Highland Park 1964 is a marriage of just two casks hand-selected for their exceptional character, and bottled in 2009 after 45 years maturation. A legendary release of just 290 bottles, this single malt Scotch whisky has a nose of toasted oak, toffee and dried strawberries, a rich palate with toasted vanilla pods and crushed black pepper, and a long and spicy finish. Flying up to the Orkney Islands in Scotland was a huge highlight for the BevMo! team. After multiple barrel tastings we settled on this one. Matured in a refill sherry puncheon for 13 years, the nose is filled with orange peel and dried fruits with a touch of vanilla, honey and a gentle peat smoke. To taste, the dried fruit flavors are joined with a touch of heather honey, spices and light aromatic smoke. Bottled at cask strength and limited to just 590 bottles.
