Hors d’ Age

With a history dating back to the 19th century, the house of Paul Beau Cognac boasts over 100 hectares of prime Grande Champagne vineyards. As with so many of the smaller family run concerns, Beau cognac started by selling all of their eaux-de-vie to the big cognac houses. However, after the business was handed down from the founder to his son, changes were put in place to commence selling some of their wares under their own label, and the brand ‘Paul Beau’ was born.

Aged 15 years and distilled from mostly the hybrid Baco grape, Château de Briat Hors d’Age is big, rich, and round brandy brings to mind that chubby guy who is, to everyone’s surprise, an excellent dancer. Aromas of licorice and tobacco smoke, comforting flavors of candied nuts, chocolate, and dried fig, leading to a warm, enveloping finish.

Dark copper color, along with an aroma of grilled mushrooms, raisins, almonds and fresh figs. Hints of ripe fruits (particularly plums and peaches), prunes and vanilla. Oaky, slightly sweet finish.

One of the finest apple brandies around. It is made from 40 different varieties of apples and is twice-distilled, then aged 4 years, creating a smooth and rich apple flavor. Great sipped on its own, and also as an accompaniment to pork and sausage dishes, or even cheese fondue.

Hors d’Age is 12 years old min. and has rich flavors of toffee, old oak, pitted plum and raisins.
