Imperial Porter

Brewed with a carfeully crafted malt bill comprised of seven different varieites of malted barley, this robust dark ale has a silky mouthfeel with notes of roasted malt, dark cacao and coffee. The addition of 400 pounds of in-house hand-toast- ed coconut lend a delightful and distinct tropical aroma that carries into the flavor. Cascade hops are used to temper the sweetness and lend a spicy yet subdued complexity.

Winter’s stark landscape calls for big, rich, flavorful beers. The subtly sweet and velvety mouthfeel of our Señorita Imperial Horchata Spiced Porter, made with cinnamon and vanilla bean, pours a deep dark brown with a snow white head. Aromas of vanilla, cinnamon, and sweet milk hit the nose, bringing up images of the delicious Mexican drink this beer is styled after. It hits the palate with sweet chocolate malts, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon with a medium body and balancing hop bitterness. Enjoy this beer after a long day of skiing with amigos and amigas!

Created in 18th century London, porters were some of the first mass-produced and consumed beers of the industrial revolution. Porter evolved from a blend of brown and darker beers that were precursors to stouts. Tradition has it that these beers were favored by porters and other physical laborers. Ten Ninety Imperial Porter is fiery elegance. Our porter is brewed with ample Munich, mild brown and de-bittered black malts for a chocolaty, espresso base. To contrast this bittersweet backbone, we added an ample dose of cayenne pepper, and tempered this heat with tart pomegranate juice.

Imperial Pumpkin Porter is a new version of 2014 fan favorite Pumpkin Porter. With a higher ABV (8.5%), it embodies the same smooth, robust pumpkin flavor and slightly smoky aftertaste with the inclusion of Alaskan’s signature alder-smoked malts.

Imperial Porter first aged in bourbon maple barrels, then in marsala wine barrels. NOTE: this is not the same beer as 'Imperial Biscotti Break Double Maple Barrel-Aged'

Smooth peanut butter meets dark coffee in this roasty porter. This Peanut Butter Victory at Sea is a nutty version of our popular imperial porter. We took our trademark robust porter brewed with Caffè Calabria coffee and vanilla and added peanut butter, adding another level to this roasty, flavorful beer.

Black Maple was a beer we brewed on the fly. An open brew day was reason enough to go big and bold. We put our heads together and crafted an imperial porter with deep nutty notes, a touch of smoked malt, a melange of crystal malts, and a rich chocolate backbone. Locally harvested maple syrup from Sticky Pete’s was added to the kettle. The whole batch was then placed into bourbon barrels wehre it rested for 10 months. This beer was consistently some of our favorite barrels to sample, we hope you enjoy!

The second arises from delectable beans harvested by our pals at Finca El Manzano Single Origin Coffee in El Salvador. The final power comes from Blue Bottle Coffee, who roast the coffee to perfection. Imperial Coffee Porter

Caldera’s "Mogli" was inspired by the loss of a dear friend. This is a chocolate, bourbon, oak-aged Imperial Porter. Mogli is complex, sweet, chocolatey, big and full of unconditional love! Rich and decadent, full bodied beer salutes American pilots who airdropped packages of chocolate into post WWII Berlin. The intense, roasted malt flavor is derived from two types of chocolate malt and raw cocoa nibs. Whole vanilla beans introduced post fermentation adds complexity and enhance the dessert like qualities.

Brash Brewing Company, the brain child of Petrol Stations Ben Fullelove, collaborated with Clown Shoes to make Pimp. Ben made a recipe for a double batch of a rich Belgian brown and we made a double batch of a 10 version of Brown Angel. The two beers were blended to make Pimp, a double, double brown ale. ABV 10

Our Black Marlin Porter is the perfect beer for a mocha mashup. The addition of coffee and cocoa plays perfectly off the roasty, chocolaty flavors of this English porter, while a hint of vanilla smooths it all out. It’s full-bodied, but not too sweet; try it for breakfast…or dessert.

Blackbeard's Breakfast is a robust porter with a new world twist. Aged in bourbon barrels and brewed with Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company's Dark Sumatra coffee, this porter is flavorful and complex. Featuring unique English malts, this brew will have strong notes of caramel and a slight nut character. Paired with bourbon notes and the sumptuous Sumatran Coffee, Blackbeard's breakfast will please coffee and beer connoisseurs alike.

The third offering in our series of Decadence Anniversary Ales, is a big, rich Imperial Porter. Brewed to the parameters of a classic Porter, Decadence 2007 has the intense aromas of dark malt and chocolate complimented by a lusciously smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is rich and malty, and balanced with just the right amount of English East Kent Goldings hops.
