Gruner Veltliner is the signature and most widely planted grape in Austria. The grape is not well known here in New Zealand and with its imposing name, Austrian marketeers are trying to bring the grape and the Austrian wine into the 21st century by lovingly calling it 'Gru-Ve', or 'Groovy'.
