"Figa" is Italian slang, albeit slightly vulgar, but also common in some northern regions like Milan and Bergamo where folks may use it as a comma or placeholder when speaking, not dissimilar to "dude" or "like" for American English speakers. Nebbiolo is the mighty grape of Piedmont and Lombardia famous for its lightly colored yet beastly tannic red wines. As always: natural ferment, unfined, unfiltered....a great food wine!
Joe Swick is a native of Portland, Oregon who makes a wide array of unique organic wines. All his wines are made with natural yeasts, unexpected grape varieties grown in both Oregon and Washington State by small, dedicated growers. Joe's earlier wines included studies on Pinot Noir clones but nowadays many of his wines are adventurous co-ferments and naturally-made versions of classic grapes from Portugal or Burgundy.
