There are so many times when wine lovers get left out of beer-centric events. Every sports game involving a ball being thrown is like a stab in the heart for those of us who feel shy about asking for a wine glass in which to pour our Provencal Rosé. Now, with a can of Scarpetta's Frico Frizzante, we can finally stand tall in the huddle. Italian Frizzante is just like Prosecco but a little less fizzy and can be made from any number of grapes. This tasty 6 oz can comes from Friuli and is made by Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey and Chef Lachlan Patterson with Glera, Chardonnay, and Trebbiano. "Scarpetta" is the term for when you mop up your plate with bread because everything was so good. Frico is good too, and you can certainly drink a few cans at this price. Flavor Profile: Medium-bodied, dry, fizzy. A blend of local tank-fermented grapes, Frico offers up stone fruit, apples, and floral notes. Crisp on the finish with just enough complexity. Pair with fish, appetizers, chicken, and cheese plates.
