Smooth and juicy packed with red cherry, strawberry, and raspberry fruits with fine tannins to maintain its structure. On the palate, this wine is fresh and elegant.
The wine is named for Olivier Leflaive’s third daughter, Margot. Cuvée Margot is a blend of Pinot Noir grapes from vineyards across the Côte de Beaune, from Puligny-Montrachet to Pommard, the Côte de Nuits and old vineyards in les Hautes Côtes, totaling about twenty different plots. These blend together to create a bright, fresh expression of red Burgundy.
About the Brand:
Olivier Leflaive was born into one of the most legendary Burgundian estates which he co-managed before starting his own venture, which is now legendary itself, Olivier Leflaive in 1985. This project allowed him to play with more wines outside of what his family owned in Puligny-Montrachet. Working with his winemaker, Franck Grux, they always focused on quality and transparency. The wines are hallmarks of elegance and purity rather than muscle and are more than worthy of the famous Leflaive name.
Critical Acclaim:
2017: 90 points James Suckling
"The 2017 Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée Margot bursts with expressive scents of cherries, incense and licorice. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and open-knit, with an enveloping, tangy core of fruit and melting tannins." William Kelley, Wine Advocate
