Mas d'en Blei is a small winery in the Priorat region. Located in La Morera de Montsant, it has 17 hectares of vineyards on the banks of the Siurana River where the winery and the old farmhouse (1756) blend in with the surroundings perfectly. In 2006 the Ferrús Guaschfamily acquired this small property, and together with the winemaker Jordi Torrella recovered its agricultural value by planting more than 20 thousand vines, mostly indigenous varieties such as Garnacha and Cariñena, in order to start producing quality craft wines. Blei Liber is a red wine made with Garnacha, Cariñena and Cabernet Franc, from the Mas d'en Blei estate, with slate-containing soils and slopes facing south-west. The grapes are harvested manually and placed in 10-kg boxes. After an initial selection, the grapes are destemmed and another selection is made berry by berry. Before the fermentation starts, they undergo cold maceration for 24 hours. Each variety is fermented separately, with native yeasts for 20-24 days with manual pigeage being performed daily. The wine is aged for 12 months in 225 litre French oak barrels of medium grain and light medium toast.
