Le Barrettage is a Rhone-lover’s dream wine. Our Syrah-based blend showcases our favorite vineyard sites and melds an old-world sensibility with the power of Napa Valley fruit. Rich, velvety, earthy, and ripe, Le Barrettage has already won many fans with its unique character and beautiful flavor profile. Tech specs: Syrah-dominant blend with a pinch of Grenache and Petite Sirah Calistoga appellation 100% French Oak barrels, 40% new for ~24 months 200 cases produced Suggested drinking range: Delicious upon release – an additional 2 years of age is excellent. Expected to last 10-15 years or even beyond. Quite a structured wine. Suggested pairings: wild duck, venison, or any gamey dark meats; ribeye steak, rich dark stew, bolognese sauce, sauteed mushrooms, grilled summer vegetables, balsamic reduction, brisket, short ribs Wine History: The first vintage of Le Barrettage was 2009, when Heidi decided to evolve her single-vineyard Barrett Syrah into a layered, complex Rhone-style blend that paid homage to the L’Hermitage region of the Northern Rhone, home to many wines she admires. Featuring Syrah from her own Calistoga vineyard as well as a bit of Syrah, Grenache, and Petite Sirah, she came up with the name Le Barrettage and immediately pictured a label inspired by the classic Rhone wines she loves so much. The mermaid was given a crown and surrounded by old-world filigree as a tribute to the labels of the Rhone, and Le Barrettage was born.
