If you believe in that advice, do we have a wine for you. Made by La Perlina in the Puglia region of Italy, it’s a Moscato that could function as dessert itself. But it’s even better when paired with more traditional treats — you know, the ones that require some chewing.La Perlina, or “little pearl,” is inspired by the mythical past of the Mediterranean as depicted in Homer’s “Odyssey.” Homer’s sea was full of hope, danger, romance and adventure — qualities animated in La Perlina’s Moscato, crafted from hand-selected grapes grown on higher altitude sites in Puglia. The wine has an orange blossom aroma and flavors of sweet peach and nectarine. La Perlina’s winemaker suggests chilling it down and enjoying it with a honeycomb-topped crostata, an Italian baked tart that sometimes is called coppi or sfogliate. It’s a double-barreled sweet treat that’s tough to resist.
