This Chardonnay comes from the Groth family's Hillview Estate in Napa Valley's Oak Knoll District. The cooler site provides tropical fruit, citrus and mineral notes that complement food nicely. The wine is barrel-fermented and aged sur lie in French oak to give it layers of flavors and complexity. But with just a touch of new oak and no malolactic fermentation, the wine retains a crisp, mouthwatering acidity.
