Eikendal Charisma

The 2012 Eikendal Charisma is unusual blend of Shiraz (88%), Petit Verdot (17%) and Sangiovese (5%), that may seem somewhat confusing until it’s put into your glass. A fruit forward, New World style blend with smooth silky tannins and lovely, spiced edged fruit, this drinks deliciously. Not overly complex it still has plenty of nuance to keep it interesting and have you coming back for another sip. The nose offers up spice nuances along with some floral overtures to the cherry and black berry fruit tones. Medium fuller bodied and possessing spicy dark fruits there is a nice backbone of acidity that keeps it fresh and lively. Good fruit intensity and harmonious tannins make this approachable now but this will improve over the next year and will drink nicely for a few years after that.
