Domaine Roucas De Saint Pierre Gigondas

Domaine Roucas de Saint Pierre is a winegrower based in France in the Rhone Valley region. Syrah Is the typical grape for wines from the Northern Rhône Valley and is successful all over the world. Domaine du Roucas de St Pierre covers over 12 acres, lying in a superb natural amphitheater oriented south-south east, dominated by granite cliffs almost 350 feet high, “Les dentelles de Montmirail”. The vineyards were originally planted in the second century by the romans and produce some of the most expressive wines here. Syrah and Grenache form the basis of our Crus. grapes are harvested by hand and completely destemmed. Then, grapes are kept on cold temperature for a maximum of flavors and extraction. After a few days, we leave slowly the temperature getting up during the fermentation process Lon batting 25 days with daily pneumatic punching down and pumping over for a maximal extraction. The wine is aged in subterranean cement tanks for several years before maturing in bottles in an air conditioning cellar. The winemaking and bottling take lace on their property. Whiffs of dried strawberry and plum introduce this blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah.
