Frederic Gueguen and his wife and Celine (Brocard) Gueguen are the team behind the small family Domaine Geugeun, located in the Chablis. Both Frederic and Celene were winemakers in Chablis before founding their own estate; Frederic at Jean Durup (his uncle) and Jean-Marc Brocard (his father in law) and Celene also at Brocard. In addition to Chablis, they produce other white, rose and red wines from their organically farmed estate, all very small production and unique.
The Pinot Noir fruit for their rose comes from 30 year-old vines planted to limestone soils dating from the Late Jurassic period. Fermented and aged on the lees in stainless steel, this is a super fresh rose with a beautiful pale-pink color. Bright strawberry, floral and mineral notes lead in the nose, followed by a juicy, minerality-laced palate and a finish that lingers with flavors of cherries. Best enjoyed when young and fresh and recommended with grilled sea bass with fennel, langoustines with paprika, spicy dishes, and barbecue.
