Winemaking Notes: The Taillandier Laguzelle is a chuggable, chillable red made from 30-year-old vines of Cinsault, Syrah and Carignan, which are grown on schist, clay, limestone, sand and marne. The native yeast fermentation is natural with 6 months of aging in stainless steel and only 10mg/l of sulfites added at bottling. The wine is neither fined nor filtered.
Tasting Notes: Laguzelle shows fresh aromas of dried herbs, luscious black fruit (red plum and blackberry), warm spices and a hint of black pepper. It is lively, fresh and lower in alcohol than the typical wines of Minervois in part because harvest is 1-2 weeks before other producers.
