Chateau Hourtou was mentioned by Edouard Féret in the second edition of his book ‘Bordeaux and its Wines’.
The average age of Hourtou vines is 40; some are up to one hundred years old – a sure sign that tannins will be firm.
The château is a former manor house dating back to the 15th century, and is currently occupied by Pierrette Castel.
Varietal Mix: 80% merlot, 10% cabernet sauvignon, 5% cabernet franc, 5% malbec
