"The curving slope of the Fourchaume Premier Cru vineyard provides producers with subtle but distinct variations in exposure within the site, allowing them to tailor very specific expressions. The superior chalk and limestone-rich Kimmeridgian soils produce a notably round, lemony and mineral wine that makes the site one of the most recognizable in Chablis. This is an elegant, refined wine that offers a crisp, flavourful articulation of why Chablis is so special.
Chateau de Maligny is owned by the Durup family who have resided in the village of Maligny since the 15th century. The Maligny properties cover more than 50 ha in the commune of Maligny, and another 50 ha in other parts of Chablis. It is now the largest estate in the appellation. Owner Jean Durup is a driving force in Chablis. Together with his talented and dedicated vineyard manager and winemaker, Michel Poitout, he ferments and matures his wines in stainless steel without the use of wood. The result is a consistently fine Chablis with the characteristic mineral nuances that the terroir gives it, with an unusual but welcome ripe fruit profile."
