Chances R marks a new era of production and reach for Watermill. Chances R is a drinkable blend of predominantly Bordeaux varietals that will allow drinkers to experience Watermill Wines at a lower price point, without sacrificing quality. The wine was named Chances R because it is of such high quality and such low price that in the words of our winemaker Andrew Brown, “chances are we aren’t going to make any money off it”.
Tasting notes
Bright and fruity on both the nose and the palate. Red and black fruit blend with brown sugar and baking spices to make a wine that infinitely drinkable either on its own or with heavier fare.
Production notes
All Watermill wines are hand picked late in seasons for maximum ripeness. They are then gently pressed in small volumes and undergo inoculated fermentation in 1 to 1.5 ton small lot fermenters. The wine sits on the skins for more than two weeks where it undergoes additional maceration through punch downs and pump overs for color and tannin integration before being transferred to barrel. All reds age for between 12 and 16 months in a combination of new and neutral medium toast French and American oak before bottling.
