Malbec is now so closely associated with Argentina that people don't realize that it's grown anywhere else! In the high altitudes of Mendoza, Malbec thrives. Hot sun during the day and cool nights allow the best properties of Malbec to shine through. The wines are usually rich and ripe, with low acidity and low to moderate tannin at the lower price ranges. As the prices rise, so does the complexity. The balance starts to become more European, with higher acidity (drier wines) and more tannin, which makes them more ageworthy.
