Blend: 31% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 17% Syrah, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 3% Petit Manseng, 1% Tannat In 2017 Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah work as a trio in the Foothills. Across all grape varieties we had higher ripeness in 2017, and the result is darker fruit, more structure, and richness cloaking the inherent charm of the fruit from these blocks. Once again we use a small addition of Petit Manseng to bring juiciness and cohesiveness to the aromas. While we don’t generally make a cellaring recommendation with Foothills, we bottle it in screwcap to encourage you to open it, but the concentration of the vintage makes this one of those wines that we can surprise ourselves with in five or so years.

It’s hard to stay a lone wolf for long, so you’ve got to stay looking over your shoulder as the weird ones are out there. It could be time to show a little teeth and let them know your bark isn’t worse than your bite. There are always new wolves in town equally hungry and equally weird. The broad shoulders will help it age gracefully with time, but this is no brute. Its elegant baking spice and dried floral components compliment its power.

One of our favorite times of the year is just after harvest when the white wines are done fermenting and still in the tanks. They're chilled to the low 40's to keep them fresh and stable, and fill the cellar with beautiful aromas. Cold fermented in stainless steel for 6 weeks, the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc is without a doubt our most delicious vintage yet! Aromatics of lemon zest and fresh cut pear lead to crisp flavors of grapefruit and a hint of peaches. Serve this wine chilled alongside seafood, light pasta dishes, and chicken with basil and garlic.

Our Chardonnay boasts an attractive light yellow-green color and vibrant pear and lemon aromas. Lush and crispy on the palate, its bright citrus notes beautifully balance the subtle creaminess and vanilla that comes on the finish. A blend of all five red Bordeaux grape varietals produces an intense wine with blackberry, black cherry and dark chocolate notes backed by lingering, velvet tannins. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, this elegant, complex wine complements any cut of steak, Italian dishes and blue cheese. Blend: 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Malbec and 10% Merlot.

A new concept white wine that blends Pinot Grigio with Chardonel and pays homage to where the grapes grow in our vineyard. A medium-bodied, dry white wine with green apple and tropical fruit aromas.

Emblematic aromas of lychee, rose and ginger abound on the nose, with white grape, aloe and juniper. These tones are intense on the palate yet they carry a slightly soapy sheen. Medium in acidity and body, the fruit flavors extend the long, spicy finish.

Aged for 9 months in American & French oak, 100% Cabernet Franc. Our 2013 Marquis de Lafayette opens with notes of violets, candied strawberries & baking spices on the nose, followed by flavors of red cherries, chocolate, and tobacco. Silky smooth, fruit-driven with well-integrated tannins. This 100% estate grown Cabernet Franc is a shining example of how well the grape grows in Virginia's climate and soils. The wines made from Cabernet Franc usually result in medium bodied spicy red wines, that do an excellent job of showing the terroir the grapes were grown in. The first plantings of Cabernet Franc at Breaux Vineyards were in 1985 on VSP trellis in “B” block. The most recent plantings (2001-2004) were on lyre trellis at 1000 vines per acre. 6.9 acres of Cabernet Franc is grown in 3 vineyard blocks (B, D, T) on the Breaux Vineyards estate; each achieving a distinct flavor profile due to site and clone/rootstock selection. Elevations range from 750-850 feet.
