The color is a rich scarlet-red, with opulent aromas of blackberry, black cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of caramel. The palate comes alive with flavors of ripe raspberries, strawberry jam, a dense blackberry core, warm gingerbread, and a hint of toffee. It is perfectly balanced with refreshing acidity, plush weight on the mid-palate and a wonderfully supple texture. The expansive fruit flavors carry through to a long, pure and persistent finish. When asked to describe this wine, I simply say it’s like a taste of Christmas, all year long.

Pretty aromas of lemongrass, grapefruit and honeysuckle lead to lush flavors of ripe pear, apple and hints of tangerine. Clean and crisp with traces of minerality on the palate, this wine has mouthwatering acidity and a light, tart finish making it especially food-friendly. Katherine’s Vineyard Chardonnay is an ocean influenced, single vineyard expression of “refrigerated sunshine” in a glass – layered, elegant, distinct. Fresh granny smith apples, floral and spice aromas dominate the nose; pink grapefruit, tangerine, citrus blossom, and apple pie flavors are balanced by a bit of wet stone. The oak influence creates a nice mid-palate, yet the wine still shows a balanced acidity that carries through the long finish. Chardonnay is one of the most celebrated white wines in Santa Barbara County, California. All grapes from the Estate Vineyards are certified under the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance and Sustainability in Practice.

Presqui’ile Vineyard is planted on a extremely sandy ridge at the southwestern edge of the Santa Maria AVA. The combination of the moderate climate and relatively poor soils creates a Syrah this is lively, spicy and complex. The wine was fermented with 25% whole clusters to add to the texture and mouth feel of the wine. Dark purple color, reminiscent of violets with aromas of crushed black pepper.

It takes beautiful juice to make beautiful rosé. This salmon colored edition is the result of pinot noir grapes harvested slightly earlier to focus on freshness and vibrancy. Defined by delicate red fruit and laser-like acidity, it is pure, refreshing and immensely drinkable.

In regards to Chenin Blanc 2017 was a change of pace a bit. Prior to harvest I arranged a lease of a vineyard with one acre of Chenin Blanc. Even though the lease didn’t go into effect until Jan. 2018 we were able to purchase the 2017 crop. In addition to this new site, Tres Hermanas Vineyard off Foxen Canyon Rd., we also purchased Chenin from two other sites in the area to do our best to showcase the regional character of the grape through our hands. Typical of all our white wine making, we pressed the juice to tank for 24 hours to settle out the heaviest of sediment before being racked to mostly neutral oak with a few stainless barrels for fermentation and aging. The wine was gently racked twice prior blending to clarify the wine as best as possible. It was bottled after 7 months aging without any fining or filtration. Minimal amounts of sulfur were added after the completion of ML and prior to bottling.

The secret to our success with our Steel Chardonnay has been the high quality of fruit from our estate vineyard. Our 2013 Steel Chardonnay opens with fresh tangerine zest and citrus on the nose. Flavors of candied lemon and meringue are complemented by soft notes of flint and kumquat for a clean and refreshing finish.

A blend of a number of vineyard blocks at Bien Nacido and Dierberg in Santa Maria Valley along with pieces of holdings down in the Santa Rita Hills. This wine sees less than 10% new wood and the wine is left to rest on its lees for about a year before it is moved to tank for the last few months prior to bottling to ensure the wine's tension, elegance, and precision.

In the glass, this wine’s zesty tangerine, mango, and tropical aromas mingle with creamy golden notes and a hint of herbs. With the first sip, more citrus flavors bloom in the mouth beside a rivulet of pineapple, then blossom into a lavishly textured mid-section. The wine finishes with a lovely crisp minerality.
