100% Tempranillo ABOUT THE BRAND Founded in 1896 Federico Paternina establishes this winery on a site featuring cellars dug in the 16 th century in Ollauri, Rioja Alta. Bodegas Paternina was the first major wine company in Rioja, the most influential, dynamic and economically powerful. Its origins go back to Eduardo de Paternina, father of Federico and Marqués de Terán one of the pioneers of modern viticulture in Rioja at the behest of his close friend the Baron de Rothschild, who years before had acquired the Château Brane Mouton. INTERESTING FACTS Hemingway´s first stop was Logroño, where the bull fighter Ordóñez participated in a fair held on the occasion of the Harvest Festival. During those days, Hemingway enjoyed in La Rioja with his friend some unforgettable days of wine, bulls and party. TERROIR AND VINIFICATION PROCESS Selected vineyards of Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. Clay calcareous soils, located on slopes with good drainage and with good solar exposure. Harvest made manually in small boxes and careful selection of the best grapes in the winery. After a careful fermentation under temperatures not exceeding 28 ºC, the wine is kept in vats for stabilization. The wine is aged in medium toast American oak barrels followed by ageing in bottle for a combined period of 36 months. TASTING NOTE Deep bright ruby red colour with garnet rim. Very elegant on the nose with delicate cooked red fruit aromas, spice and smoke from the ageing in barrel On the palate it has ripe red fruit flavours with hints of vainilla and toast. Well balanced, velvety, complex with smooth tannins and long finish Perfect with red meats, venison and cured cheeses. Recommended serving temperature 17°C.

Vineyards 100% Tempranillo from our Mayorita, Rebollar and Bardal vineyards, as well as selected plots in El Palo, Rodezno and Alto del Rey, Labastida. These vineyards are located at an altitude of 500-600 metres (1600-2000 ft) above sea level, planted in chalky-clay soils more than 40 years ago. Winemaking and ageing After carefully selecting the grapes to be harvested, we placed the clusters in boxes that we immediately transported to the winery in refrigerated vehicles at a temperature of 14 °C (57 °F). The Bordeaux model was applied, destemming, crushing and vatting the grapes in tanks, where they underwent alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged for two years in American oak barrels manufactured in-house; the first year in new oak and the second in barrels averaging three years in age. The wine was manually racked four times by the light of a candle. Bottled in June 2017. Tasting Lively, medium depth, garnet–red with an intense pink rim. High aromatic intensity with dominating ripe fruit: raspberries, red cherries, wild strawberries and red currants set out against a balsamic background of vanilla, toasted caramel, biscuits, coffee and sweet mints. In the mouth, you can enjoy good acidity, great freshness and balance and mild, friendly tannins. Aromatic harmony persists through the aftertaste, with notes of red fruit jam, prunes, coffee, vanilla and caramel. Pairing Viña Alberdi is characterised by a notable food-pairing versatility. It is an ideal companion to appetisers, snacks and barbecues, perfect with rice, pastas and stews, and great with lightly-grilled meat and fish.

Vineyards The basic grape variety is Tempranillo (95%) from Las Cuevas, El Palo and Las Monjas vineyards in Rodezno complemented with 5% Graciano from the Montecillo estate in Fuenmayor. Winemaking and ageing We started the grape harvest with the Tempranillo and, 17 days later, we picked the Graciano in Montecillo, the last plot we harvested. All the grapes were placed in small boxes and taken to the winery in refrigerated transport to preserve their integrity. Alcoholic fermentation took place in tanks, taking 16 days for the Tempranillo and 18 days for the Graciano. Malolactic fermentation took place spontaneously and, in March 2013, the selected wines were transferred to American oak barrels (made in-house) with an average age of 3 years. During the three years the wines were aged, they were racked every six months. The final blend was made in March 2016, combining both varieties until that magnificent balance that sets the first Viña Arana Gran Reserva apart was attained. Tasting Dark-cherry red with a garnet-red rim. High aromatic intensity, with outstanding notes of ripe red fruit, red berries, wild strawberries and plum jam, leading to tertiary aromas from meticulous aging in oak: vanilla, cedar, tobacco, coffee, caramel and sweet patisserie notes. In the mouth, its initial freshness and structure, typical of this brand, predominate. Balanced, with soft, flavoursome tannins. Elegant, complex finish, where the ripe red fruit and balsamic notes provide a splendid end. A wine with great potential to continue improving in the bottle. Pairing Particularly recommended with all kinds of meats, stews, seasoned fish, and desserts with chocolate couverture or red berries. Perfect as an after-dinner drink.

100% Tempranillo BRAND & PRODUCT José Abascal (1743-1821) as patron provides the name of the umbrella brand and quality seal Marqués de la Concordia. Abascal was brevet by the Spanish King Ferdinand VII. 1812 the noble title of Marqués de la Concordia of Peru. In his function as viceroy he expedited social reform, knowledge transfer and cooperation between Creoles and Spaniards in best concord. WINEMAKING The vines are located exclusively in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa on the north-western edge of the most prestigious wine appellation of Spain. The vines grow 650m a.s.l. on nutrition poor calcareous clay soil. Intense maceration for phenol extraction is achieved by frequent transfers. The temperature controlled fermentation is done in stainless steel deposits at maximum temperature of 26Cº. Aging takes place during 24 month in French and American barriques. TASTING NOTES Intense coulour depth, cherry red to ruby. Primary aromas of ripe wild berries, balsamic and subtile toast, ceder und palisander notes. On the palete conentrated, harmonic, distinctive but well integrated acidity. Structured, full body, vevety and lasting. INTERESTING FACTS It is widely known Hemingway ´s love for Spain, its culture and of course the delicious Paternina wines. TERROIR AND VINIFICATION PROCESS Calcareous clay with a high proportion of limestone, shallow. The boulders and grabs provide good drainage and good water retention. The must is fermented at a maximum temperature of 28°C. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to oak casks to slowly mature for 12 months, followed by a further 12 months ageing in bottle prior to its release. TASTING NOTES Bright ruby red colour. Delicate floral, balsamic and traditional characters on the nose. Plump, sweet fruit. Refreshing, elegant and attractive style. A proper classic Rioja! 100% Tempranillo BRAND & PRODUCT Marqués de la Concordia Crianza can be considered as the more gastronomic version of Rioja Santiago, ideally sold by the glass and for food pairing in on trade. Appreciated by consumers who favour a solid aged wine. Nevertheless the overall style is characterized as fruit driven and recognized as a modern Rioja. WINEMAKING The crop comes from selected slopes with vines of an average age of 20 years. The vine´s roots have grown deep into the calcareous clay soil, which allows for slow maturation and conceives persistence and depth. The temperature controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel deposits at a maximum temperature of 26Cº. By frequent transfers the mash extraction gets intensified. The wine is aged in new American Oak Casks (225L) during twelve Months for integration and rounding up of already velvety tannins. TASTING NOTES Intense colour depth, cherry-red. Intense aroma of red fruits, blackberry, spicy liquorish and balsamic and rosewood notes. On the palate meaty, well structured, balanced alcohol and acidity, primarily flavours of red crisp fruit, liquorish and eucalyptus, vanilla and toasted notes integrated with sweet and velvety tannins. FOODPAIRING & SERVICE TEMPERATURE Substantial stews, Entrecote, mellow beef steaks, Lamb and pork, cured cheese e.g. Hacienda Zorita sheep's milk cheese (Salamanca), Manchego (Castilla la Mancha) and a Iberico Jamón.

This Rosado from Bodegas Taron is a traditional `clarete` or rose, a 50/50 blend of white and red grapes. In this case it is a blend of Viura and Garnacha. The winery and vineyards are situated in the northern point of Rioja Alta. This rose is a delicate pale pink color with notes of strawberries, peaches and cherry blossom on the nose. The palate is crisp with summer fruit flavours and a fresh acidity.

La Rioja Alta makes some of the very finest wines in all of the region: Arana Reserva, Gran Reserva 904, Gran Reserva 890. It has always been the Ardanza, though, which I've enjoyed the most. It is consistent, always elegant, and just a terrifically balanced, classic Rioja. In the very best vintages, La Rioja Alta designates Ardanza as a "Reserva Especial"; this has only happened two other times, in 1964 and 1973. I have not had the '64, but I did recently taste the '73 and it was superb. Yep, this is a $30 wine which ages gracefully for more than three decades. An incredible wine, and in a time where there is no shortage of wine or deals, this is the real deal, and a genuine bargain.

Made from hand selected grapes from our vineyards in Rioja Alta. The color and structure is obtained after alcoholic fermentation maceration. The malolactic fermentation gives the wine suitable for mature aged in American and French oaks. Finally passed into our drafts which will age under conditions suitable temperature and humidity until the time of going to market. Ruby red color with nice pink notes on the meniscus. Wine with complex aromas in which we find sweet fruits: blackberries, figs, plums, licorice from the Tempranillo variety, all well assembled with the aromas coming from aging in barrel like spices, caramel, tobacco leaves, etc. In the mouth, the velvety tannin makes it smooth with a long and elegant step and fruity, balsamic aftertaste.
