Martín Códax Rías Baixas Albariño is delicate and medium-bodied with a crisp, dry finish. On the palate, flavors of pear, passion fruit, ripe apple, peach and lemon zest are framed by bright minerality and hints of spice. Attractive floral aromatics and brisk acidity make this a versatile, food-friendly wine.

Straw colored with greenish hints. The nose is intense with ripe apple, white pear, and floral notes. The palate features bright citrus tones along with a tinge of fresh herbs. The wine is polished with a perfectly balanced structure.

Mencia

A wine that has both tension and depth, with deliciously ripe fruit over a firm mineral frame. It is a wine that is refreshing and complex, satisfying and compelling. Pale, golden lemon in color.

The 2013 Albarino Bodegas La Cana is fermented in stainless steel (80%) and large format barrels (20%) with aging on lees. On the nose, mineral notes, lemon peel, spices confectionery, and floral announce this round and tasty white soft texture. Peitán is made respecting the varietal aromas and the freshness of the grapes. Its character is the result of a direct pressing of selected grapes in their optimum point of maturation. These grapes are grown on small vineyards.

Peza do Rei is a medieval walled vineyard and woodlands estate taking its name from the Kings of León, for whom it served as an income source and private hunting retreat. One hundred percent Mencí­a, partially aged in new French oak. Bright red berry fruit and slate on the nose is followed by lingering fruit and minerality, the oak serving to provide structure while remaining well in the background.

A clean and intensly fresh wine that exhibits all the typical characteristics of the Albariño grape variety. Ripe and aromatic, with overtones of peach, melon and honey, offset by a crisp tangy acidity that helps to balance the rich fruit flavours. A well-rounded wine with a long, mellow, honeyed finish.

“Pazo das Bruxas” [PAH-so das BROO-shahss] is produced in DO Rías Baixas, the undisputed birthplace of Albariño, predominately with grapes from the historic coastline of Salnés, blended with grapes from O Rosal. This classic expression of Albariño is characteristic of the Atlantic influenced maritime climate of Rías Baixas. Free draining sandy soil atop rocky granite soil beds prevents water retention. The combination of fruit from temperate O’Rosal vineyards with slower to ripen parcels from Salnés provides optimal balance and high toned acidity. This 100% Albariño is brilliant yellow with a soft green edge. Intensely aromatic with white floral, citrus, white peach notes and lemon curd.

Pulpo is one of the most recent launches of Pagos del Rey. A white wine made from “albariño” grapes carefully grown in the vineyards of the región “Val do Salnés” (Salnes Valley) in Galicia, which belongs to Rias Baixas appelation. A delicate wine with aromas of white flowers, hints of peaches and apricots lead to a fresh, fruity palate and an enjoyable finish. Pagos del Rey, with four wineries located in the main wine-producing appellations in the north of Spain like Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Toro and Rueda, starts a new project with a new wine from Galicia. This wine started its distribution in the restaurants of Spain.

Rías Baixas represents the lowlands of Galicia, with an elevation generally less than 300m near the sea and the lower reaches of the rivers, giving the region a distinct Atlantic influence with mild temperatures and high rainfall. Here, Albariño finds its natural habitat. La Milla is a cuvée made in collaboration with third generation winegrower and winemaker Angel Parada. It is sourced from an organically and biodynamically farmed plot of old vines (up to 80 years old) in the sandy soils of the Soutomaior subzone of Rías Baixas. After hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation and aging occur entirely in stainless steel tanks.
