Vineyard Notes: The fruit for this wine comes from vineyards in the Carneros region owned by the Rombauer family and select growers including the Sangiacomo family, long-term grower partners who have farmed this land for three generations. Winemaker Notes: The grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed while the fruit was still cool. The juice was pumped to tank to cold-settle overnight before it was racked to barrel for primary and malolactic fermentation. The lees were stirred every two weeks to give the wine rich flavors and a creamy texture. Food Pairing: Our favorite Joy of Cooking® pairings for this wine include pan-seared scallops, chicken satay with green papaya salad, and salade niçoise.

Made from Pinot Noir, although the color is golden straw, and the wine is light and airy in the mouth. The raspberry and strawberry flavors are the giveaway. Absolutely delicious, with a refined mouthfeel, and the price is a bargain.

Our Pinot Noir is handcrafted by award winning winemaker Barry Gnekow from top vineyards in the region. Created with the philosophy that superb Carneros Pinot Noir can be affordable, this wine is indistinguishable in quality from its higher-priced competitors.

This vintage gives the wine all the characters I love in this Chardonnay, just more of them. Your glass swims with floral aromas and flavors of white peach, honeysuckle, grapefruit peel, kiwi and toasted almond – a gorgeous, juicy bowl of fruit held together with pleasing minerality and lively, bright acidity.

A beautiful expression of Carneros Pinot Noir, packed with bright cherry and berry flavors with the added complexity of spice and earth notes. Youthful and fresh, with the potential to age for up to a decade.

Due to the geological diversity of vineyards within the Carneros appellation, grapes were hand harvested based upon optimum ripeness and flavor maturity from sites including Herman, Thornton Ranch and Southern Sonoma. The grapes were whole cluster pressed, 100% barrel fermented and completed secondary fermentation. The wine was aged in French oak. Tropical aromas spring from the glass with a note of lemon custard pie. Mango and pineapple flavors are layered with baked peaches and creamy vanilla that spreads across the palate. This Chardonnay has bright acidity, a good richness and a long finish.

In 2003, we made our first batch of Molnar Family Chardonnay from this vineyard that we planted in 1973. From the start, we wanted to do something different here. We wanted to undress the typical Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and observe the complex natural flavors of the fruit. Starting with the 2012 vintage, we’ve elevated the vineyard name to the main wine name. Not that we don’t love our family name – honestly, we do – but our goal is to highlight the wine’s most critical component: the land from which this fruit comes

The Artesa Carneros Chardonnay is first and foremost about aromatics, and the techniques used are designed to retain the signature Carneros aromas of lemon-citrus and white blossom while accentuating the minerality and vivid, fresh fruit flavors of citrus and stone fruits in the wine. Partial barrel fermentation, malolactic and lees stirring create layers, imparting hints of cedar and honey and wrapping the flavors in a rich, generously-textured mouthfeel.

Our twelve-acre Estate Chardonnay vineyard sits in the heart of the renowned Los Carneros appellation. This appellation is ideal for growing premium Chardonnay fruit. Cool foggy mornings blend into afternoon breezes off San Pablo Bay. This natural “air conditioning” allows a longer-than-average hang time for flavor development, while retaining balanced natural acidity. Vine Cliff has produced Chardonnay from other regions but the two wines that come from our own vineyard in Carneros are the Los Carneros Chardonnay and the Proprietress Chardonnay.
