Straw-yellow with golden reflections and a delicate mousse. Fruity and very inviting, with intense scents of peaches and exotic fruit. Fresh and pleasantely sweet with a taste that reveals its varietal characteristic.

The light, slightly sweet wines of Moscato d'Asti have found their footing in the past few years. The fragrant aromas of white blossoms and ripe peaches are intoxicating. This lovely wine will always be lower in alcohol and sweeter than the more famous Champagne, but those reasons are why it is so graceful.

Awarded 91 points by The Tasting Panel. About Gancia--Italy's First Sparkling Wine. In 1850, the Gancia family founded their winery surrounded by their beautiful vineyards in Canelli, Piedmont. It was there that Carlo Gancia produced the first Italian sparkling wine, applying the techniques he had learned in Champagne, France. By 1870, Gancia was an official supplier to the Royal House of Savoy. A distinctive feature of our winery is our cellars, also called Underground Cathedrals for their incredibly beautiful architecture. Dug out of tufo soil, they maintain the cool steady temperatures perfect for making and storing wine.

Vermouth was first produced in 1786 in Torino, its name coming from the principal ingredient wormwood, or wermut as the Germans would say. Mauro’s base wine consists of Cortese and Moscato from local producers, the former offering brightness and acid, the latter aromatics. These wines are blended with a mixture of raw alcohol, wormwood, citrus skin and herbs like thyme, marjoram, basil and oregano. In the hands of Mauro, we get an unusually detailed, delicate white Vermouth, the best we have tried.

A creamy, lively Moscato, with hints of candied coconut and Thai basil accenting the baked melon and lemon parfait flavors. Well-balanced.

Alessandro Boido only bottles this wine when we order it and it is one of only a few estate-bottled, vintage-dated Astis. The Asti Spumante shows a lot of tiny bubbles, fresh red apple aromas and flavors, moderate sweetness and a freshness in the finish that is rare in this type.
