Wine in Alentejo

Young and attractive, this wine presents a dark red colour and aromas of currants, red plums and some spices. It is velvety, with a balanced acidity and soft tannins. Grape Variety: Aragonêz, Trincadeira, Cabernet Sauvignon Excellent with light meat and grilled dishes.

Indicative blend: 80% Aragonez, 15% Alicante Bouschet, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

An intense ruby red color and a violet shaded rim at first sight. Notes of well ripened fruit and brown spices on the nose. Palate-coating richness of blueberry, plum and often a subtle stimulating flavor of violet. Smooth and medium bodied.

When the Alqueve Dam was constructed in the early years of this century in the Alentejo region of southern Portugal, creating what is now the biggest artificial lake in all of Europe, the old village of Aldeia da Luz was below the proposed water line. The authorities devised a unique solution to the problem: they completely rebuilt the town a few miles away on higher ground. The relocation included the planting of a 500-acre olive grove and a 200-acre vineyard, and it is from that community vineyard that grapes for this wine are sourced. A 70/30 blend of Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet, it has lush aromas of blueberries, plums and cherries with those same fruit notes on the palate along with hints of tobacco, black pepper, and spice.

It was received by our customers with enormous success. ​Rota das Naus is characterized by its ruby color, aromatic and ripe fruit taste. It has a medium body and is slightly acidulous with a pleasant after taste on the pallet. Grapes: Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira.

The wine shows a ruby hue with hints of violet and aromas of fresh red berries, spices and white flowers. This is a very juicy and fresh wine with fine acidity and very smooth tannins. It is medium-bodied and shows dark plum and red currant flavors with accents of black licorice. Milk chocolate notes emerge on the spicy finish. Pairs well with pasta, poultry and soft cheeses

After destalking the resulting juice is covered in quality grape spirit to prevent the fermentation. The wine is then aged for 5 years in old barrels. Smooth texture and the natural sweetness is balanced by a fresh acidity.
