Petite Sirah

Opaque in color, this Petite Sirah bursts with aromas of muddle blackberries, fresh caramel, and smoky oak. At second swirl, there is a distinct tobacco leaf aroma with other subtle notes of dried vanilla bean, brambly blueberries and coriander seed finishing with an earthy Lodi terrior stamp. True to it’s varietal, flavors of intense blackberry, dried cherry and wild strawberries glide across the palate. The finish lingers back toward the earthy nuances of forest floor with a hint of mocha.

Consistent year in and year out; mindfully rich and balanced on the palate; full bodied and well structured; plenty of sassy black fruit notes.

This 2013 Stanton Vineyards Petite Sirah appears to be more concentrated and even darker than recent vintages, and may require a little bottle age in order for the ample tannins to slightly soften. It marks the tenth vintage produced from this exceptionally well-drained and balanced St. Helena valley floor vineyard. Weather conditions during the 2013 growing season proved ideal, as the fruit was harvested about a week earlier than average. The yield was at or near normal and produced 273 cases. True Stanton Petite enthusiasts will recognize the consistent balance and structure of the wine that is produced from this extraordinary vineyard site. Dave Phinney, our friend and winemaker since 2002, has overseen this and every vintage of Stanton Petite Sirah from start to finish.

J. Lohr Vineyard Series Tower Road Petite Sirah expresses an inviting bouquet of lightly toasted pastry frames the dark fruit characters of blackberry and olallieberry on the palate. Our gentle approach to winemaking delivers a rich and dense tannin structure that doesn’t disappoint. Pairs well with aromatic herbs and pan-seared meat dishes such as rosemary lamb chops with roasted fennel.

Royal Punishers has a deep, blackish blue color profile. Aromas of dusty currants, blueberry, quince, violets, figs, molasses, graphite and baked rye. The entry is weighty with a broad mid-palate structure which has layers of ripe, black fruit flavors. The oak profile is balanced and the tannins are mouthwatering and medium grained which hold the fruit profile and carry a long, lingering finish.

Deep ruby color. Notes of black cherry, black pepper, black currant, and vanilla. Finish is rich and long with sturdy tannins exerting a lasting impression on the palate.

Our Gran Reserva Petite Syrah has a very deep purple ruby color. The nose is concentrated and rich, ripe plums, black cherries and spices notes of white pepper and liquorice. This wine is dominated by ripe black fruit aromas on the mouth the tannins are firm and balanced. Carmen GRVA PS has structure and concentration with an integrated acidity that adds vibrancy. This wine will age well for 6 years or more.

The newest varietal to the Margarett’s Vineyard family of wines is this Petite Sirah. Aromas of dark berries, spice, violets and mocha are followed through on the palate with the addition of spicy plum. Vanilla & toasty oak from the winemaker’s proprietary blend of French & American oak are present but not intrusive. The wine has moderate tannins and is full-bodied with a luscious finish that will pair nicely with your favorite roasted or grilled meat and hearty vegetable dish.

Bold and spicy, this dry wine is saturated with toasty oak and vanilla flavors over plum and prune. Made from mostly Petite Sirah and Syrah, it has medium body and a smooth texture.
