Carmenere

Saved from extinction, Chile’s revival of the Carmenere is something to celebrate. This wine comes to your glass from a 19th century family-run vineyard in Colchagua Valley. Its violet hue and blow-your-mind nose of plum and spice is nothing compared to its deliciously afternoonifed taste.

Intense violet in color with ripe aromas of blackberries and warm spice. Full-bodied and fruit-forward with plum, cherry and a hint of smoke. Smooth tannins and good structure create perfect balance and a powerful finish with notes of vanilla. Try Root: 1 Carmenere with hearty chili, pork stew or barbeque ribs. Serve with roasted eggplant parmesean or vegetarian lasagna, or pair it with rich cheeses like Camembert or Brie.

The grapes were picked by hand and aged in oak barrels and stainless steel tanks for 12 months. The wine shows a purple-red color with bluish shadings. Highly complex on the nose, it stands out for its ripe black fruits, spicy notes and soft touches of bitter chocolate. It feels concentrated on the palate, with sweet and round tannins, a balanced acidity tension and a touch of chocolate in its ending, which comes from its aging process in French oak barrels. This wine is especially pleasant when paired with ribs or mushroom risotto.

A red wine with strong aromas of cherry and black plum. Complex aromas and flavors from prolonged aging in barrels, giving notes of vanilla, toast, a smoky edge, and traces of fruits such as raspberry and plum; great body and length, balanced acidity, and pleasant, rounded tannins.

Color: Deep garnet red with violet hues. Nose: Brimming with spices and pepper tones intertwined with light tinges of black fruit. Palate: In the mouth the medium persistence is loaded with ripe and round tannins that add to the structure and streamline a stylish finish.

I grow-up under the influence of the Andes Mountains is felt by the cool nights that set in and allow for a day to night difference of up to 20 °C (68°F), ideal for fruit concentration in the grape. My grapes are hand picked in small trays, preselected in the vineyard according to quality classification and ripeness Harvest dates: April.

Our Carmenère grapes originate from La Rinconada vineyards based in the Cachapoal Valley, closely linked to the Cachapoal River. It receives a large influx of rain during short winter months, and a long summer of cool breezes and sunshine. Temperatures vary greatly from day to night, and grapes ripen slowly and steadily to maintain natural acidity. Its soils are a mixture of sand, clay, and loam, ideal for growing concentrated and iconic red grapes such as Carmenère.
