Made with hand picked Pinot Noir grapes from Verus. This cuvee uses the traditional Veuve Fourny methods; manual handling and long maceration. Blended with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Pinot Noir lending subtlety on the nose and expresses black fruits while the Chardonnay gives great freshness in the mouth.
In the 1950’s, Roger Fourny and his father Albert, developed a cuvée from the three traditional Champagne varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and vinifi ed the base wine in older oak casks. Not that common in Vertus at the time. A few decades later, Roger’s sons, Emmanuel and Charles-Henry discovered some old bottles in the dark cellars under the house. So enthused about the style and quality, the boys have created their own version to celebrate their father’s passion and creativity. The area of ‘Les Barilliers’ and ‘Les Justices’ give high quality grapes which are the main terroirs of Cuvée ‘R’. Slopes face South and South-East giving optimal maturing conditions.
From handpicked Pinot Noir grapes from Vertus Premier Cru, this cuvée is the fruit of the traditional Veuve Fourny methods: manual handling, long aceration… Blended with the Chardonnay, the Pinot Noir reveals its subtlety on the nose: red and black fruit, with a great freshness in the mouth. For your special moments.
