First Estate is an excellent introduction to the Taylor’s style of intensely fruity but elegant and well balanced Ports. It is blended from full bodied young red wines from the Cima Corgo area, then mellowed by several years of ageing in oak vats.
Taylor’s Fine Ruby a blend of full bodied Port wines aged for around two years in large oak vats in Taylor’s cellars, or ‘lodges’, in Vila Nova de Gaia. As they age, they gain smoothness and elegance while retaining their fruitiness, intensity and youthful ruby colour. They are then blended together for balance and consistency. With its firm tannins and concentrated fruitiness, Fine Ruby is perfect for the classic port-and-cheese combination. It is particularly good with blue-veined and richly flavoured soft cheeses. It also pairs well with berry fruit and dark chocolate flavours and, like all red Ports, makes an excellent after dinner drink.
Clearly lives up to Taylor's superb reputation. Deep ruby, with intense violet and chocolate aromas, full-bodied, with gorgeous fruit flavors, full but well-integrated tannins and an extremely long finish. Amazing balance and finesse. Still needs time.
Taylor Golden Sherry from New York is medium dry and delicately sweet with a mellow, nutty flavor and smooth finish. A fine companion to both hors d’oeuvres and desserts, it can also be savored by itself. Serve at room temperature.
A full bodied, medium sweet Madeira, this has a classic smooth, nutty character. Uniquely zestful for cooking and as a savory after dinner drink.
Another magnificent and finely-balanced old tawny blend of outstanding richness and complexity. This rare Port is traditionally enjoyed as a dessert wine or at the end of the meal. Ideal for summer drinking, Taylor's 20 Year Old Tawny may be served cool.
