Produced in a truly special region of Northern Italy, the La Rocca Pinot Grigio is crafted in Collio, considered by Italians to be Friuli's finest area of production. Its unique character comes from a gravelly amphitheater overlooking the Adriatic on the continuation of the foot of the Alps exposed directly to the south. The wines crafted in this area are both unique and distinctive, with pronounced intensity, exceptional purity of fruit, and perhaps the loftiest expression of the varietal.
93 Points, James Suckling; Plenty of blackberry and violet aromas here, following through to a full body, with firm tannins and racy finish. Nice tar and asphalt character under the dark fruits. Tight and concentrated, perfumed with lavender. Elegant and feminine-powered, the graphite notes make up the underwire bra that Mother Nature wears to the party. ~ The SOMM Journal, August 2014. 92 Points, Purely Domestic Wine Report
