NOVAL BLACK is a new way to drink Port, a new-age Port destined to be enjoyed with dark chocolate or simply drunk chilled, used also as a cocktail ingredient.
The vineyards that produce the grapes for port wine cling to the steep hillsides in the winding valleys of the Douro river in Northern Portugal. In the heart of this beautiful region lie the vineyards of Quinta do Noval, where great Port has been produced since 1715. A fresh, full bodied wine with rich intense fruit on the palate, aged in wooden vats before bottling, Noval Ruby Port is the perfect port for informal every day drinking, as an aperitif or dessert wine. Tasting notes A bright ruby color, with an intense, youthful nose reminiscent of wild cherries. Well-balanced on the palate, it displays intense fruit and good length. Technical notes A deep colored, peppery wine full of fresh fruit flavo rs. Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesca and Tinta Barroca are the major grape varieties, all from traditional suppliers. The Quinta do Noval Fine Ruby is vinified by pump-over in stainless steel, and then aged 2 to 3 years in oak.
A perfect expression of the Noval Tawny style. It has acquired the classical attributes of an old Tawny Port, while at the same time retaining much of the freshness and fruit of its youth. Noval 10 year old Tawny is a blend of old Ports from different vintages that have matured all their life in oak casks, with an average age of 10 years.
Black is a revolutionary new style of port. The bright aromatics, incredible freshness and perfect balance bring it outside the stodgy vintage-character category. Enjoy it any time: chilled, before dinner, after, for a seductive edge to cocktails, as an indulgence with chocolate. The custom-designed bottle is distinctive, modern yet timeless, reflecting the uniqueness of Noval Black. It is simply the most beautiful port bottle we've seen.
Brooding, intense and focused with floral dark fruits nose. Brilliant focus here. The palate is concentrated and fresh with some spicy structure. Superb.
Silval is a particularly open and accessible style of Vintage Port, with the accent on exuberance of fruit. Made for lovers of Vintage Port who do not want to wait too long, it can be enjoyed when young and very fruity. This is a serious Vintage Port which will also repay years of cellar ageing.
