Run by two very likable ruddy-faced brothers out of several small beautiful vaulted 13th and 17th century cellars, Domaine Pillot produces a range of very accessible, high quality Chardonnays and Pinot Noir from the great value Cote Chalonnaise area in the heart of Burgundy. Brothers Jean-Michel and Laurent are 5th generation winemakers. They are so rigorous at harvest time that some pickers refuse to work for them! The cellar has photos from before the First World War of their great, grandfather at harvest time. At that time they also did other things to earn a living including fruit farming – the area was well-known for cherries! Laurent was for some years an accomplished footballer and then President of the local football club.
