Sharp and vibrant with flavors of lime, grapefruit and gooseberry, nice minerality and a very refreshing finish. While most Sauvignon Blanc coming out of South Africa mirrors the flavor profile of New Zealand, the Fat Barrel is more reminiscent of wine from the Loire Valley in France.
Fat Barrel Chardonnay Clean, crisp and unoaked Chardonnay with medium body, fresh apple, pear and lightly buttered flavors and a soft, balanced finish.
A combination of eight separate lots of win, 4 Cabernet & 4 Shiraz lots were combined to make this wine. Both the Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz lots were fermented seperately then combined into three primary blending components. All lots experienced three daily pump-overs. All wine went through malolactic fermentation with the Cabernet seeing both French and American oak staves for 3 months. Two wooded Cabernet components were blended with one un-oaked Shiraz component three days prior to bottling.
fan’s Pinot and a Burgundy fan’s Pinot. To me it smells like Oregon and sips like Burgundy. Vanilla, raspberry, cranberry, toast, black pepper and wood are what it’s workin’ with. The reason I think it sips like a red Burgundy is that it’s a touch more refined and subtle. If the Sean Minor has a bright dimpled smile, than this wine has more of a wink… and than sneaks you a smile a few seconds later. Sexy.
