A wine that's not a fat and buttery new-world style of Chardonnay but rather a green pear and lemon meat style. The tartness doesn’t lighten up the wine or lessen its impact, and there's complexity: dried peach, lemon pie, spiced pie crust, even raw almond. Drink now or in the next several years.
Very intense garnet colour. In the nose, the wine unfolds a broad, complex range of aromas: berries (blackberry, redcurrant), balsamic notes (mint) and a subtly spicy background (vanilla, pepper, bay leaf). Its structured palate lines the mouth with high-quality tannins. A long finish in the mouth recalling toast and bright tobacco.
Gaseous aromas of mulchy berry fruit, iodine, rubber and sulfur get this Tempranillo going in the wrong direction. Green, gummy flavors match the nose, while on the finish this is herbal tasting and medicinal, with weedy notes.
