The Sylviane Rosé is becoming one of the most fun wines to make! The juice of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc lots were fermented in stainless steel drums and once-used barrels. The fermentation went very slowly and the used oak allowed for the development of a beautiful creamy texture in the wines. The 2019 Sylviane Rose has a sexy light pink color. Bright aromas of raspberry, honeydew melon, white wild roses, vanilla beans and juicy ripe peach fill the glass. The wine shows great texture and brightness. An explosion of candy cotton and raspberry jam notes are followed by a crispy acidity and long finish of flavors.
The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc showcases aromas of Meyer lemon zest, peach blossom, and stone fruit. The citrus and vanilla bean notes carry through to the palate, where the vibrant acidity is balanced by a rounded mouthfeel and a white peach finish. This is the first year that Winemaker Laura Díaz Muñoz used a combination of concrete egg, new French oak and stainless steel for the fermentation and aging of the Sauvignon Blanc at Ehlers Estate. The result is outstanding and complex.
Dark black and scarlet color, rich and complex, this is a classic Napa Valley Cabernet with an underlying earthiness and soft fat tannins woven around a black plum and red fruit melody, and built on a firm acidic framework. Long finish, lingering impressions of cinnamon, coffee, and dark chocolate. A classic Ehlers Estate “1886” that will continue to improve for decades.
A full-bodied complex Cabernet Sauvignon, built to last a lifetime. Ripe summer blackberries, sweet leathery tannins, black plums, dark Valrhona chocolate, vanilla bean, and notes of cinnamon. The layers of flavor impressions never stop. Dense and intense with a firm old-world acidity, this wine has a finish of Italian espresso. A classic Ehlers Estate “1886” that will continue to improve for decades.
The 2017 Ehlers Estate Cabernet Franc is a stunning representation of our Estate and the varietal! This 100% Cabernet Franc has a beautiful garnet-purple color. The wine opens up with aromas of smashed rocks, minerality that is so expressive and predominant in Ehlers Estate wines. The nose continues evolving to black cherries, violets, cedar, white pepper and berry compote. Long and balanced, the mouthfeel is rich but with silky tannins. The racing acidity and white chocolate, wild berries flavors will invite you to keep exploring. Our Cabernet Franc is an amazingly food-friendly wine. Ready to drink now, but it will age extremely well for 10-15 more years.
The 2017 Ehlers Estate Portrait is a special red blend of the 4 Bordeaux varietals we have planted at the Estate. The wine is showing deep layers of garnet color. With only 50% Cabernet Sauvignon to give structure to the wine, the big personalities of the Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot really shine in this blend. Aromas of red berries, fig compote, ripe strawberries, cassis and violet flowers flowered aromas of vanilla, mocha and licorice. Long and balanced, the mouth feel is rich but with silky tannins. Full finish with a long mineral post taste. Balanced acidity promises good aging potential to the wine. Ready to drink now, but it will age extremely well for 15-20 more years.
The 2016 J. Leducq is a stunning blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It has dark layers of reddish-purple color. The aromas are intense and concentrated with forest floor, wild red and dark berries, smashed rocks and violets. The bright acidity accentuates the red berry flavors and the spices of paprika and white pepper. Full-bodied with ample tannins. This wine is a must in your cellar!
An unusually powerful and rich Merlot that illustrates the full potential of the Ehlers terroir. A complex presentation of black raspberries, red currants, cigar wrapper, and chocolate cherries. The tannins are at once fine and chewy, and the bold, juicy structure of this wine is what has always made the Ehlers Merlot “a Merlot for Cabernet drinkers.”
