This Cabernet opens with aromas of earthy forest floor and Bing Cherry. Flavors of blackberry, baking spice, and black pepper round out the palate with a smooth finish.
This Knights valley vineyard is located near our Estate Vineyard at an elevation of 800 feet. The slopes are fairly steep (35% grade) with heavy gravel and rock content. This perfectly drained low vigor site does not produce green or herbaceous aromas so often associated with Cabernet Franc, and instead features dark and ripe flavors. Cabernet Franc is one of the five Bordeaux varietals typically used for blending. In this case, however, it is a stunning wine on its own. Appellation: Knights Valley, Sonoma County Composition: 96% CF, 4% CS Case Production: 300 Harvested: varied Release Date: 9/1/10 Tasting Notes: The nose has an abundance of cinnamon, creamy vanilla, candied black cherry and chocolate covered cherry liquor, reminiscent of Mon Cherie, and a hint of graphite. At first sip this wine is tight with saturated but raw tannins, a sure sign of its youth, followed by dark bittersweet chocolate. The finish comes in waves and lingers for 45 seconds and then some!
