Deep purple black colour. The complex seductive nose has the archetypal Croft opulence but displays impressive depth, background and reserves of aroma. A rich, powerful fruitiness provides the backdrop for heady scents of blossom and rock rose. Luscious ripe berry fruit flavour surges though the palate. The wine’s velvety texture is underpinned by taut, muscular, perfectly integrated tannins which provide stamina with an attractive firmness and vigour to the finish.
Croft Fine Ruby is blended from red wines produced in the Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo areas of the upper Douro Valley, selected for their depth of colour, intense fruit and full, firm palate. These wines are matured for about three years in oak vats, where they soften and develop without losing their fresh, intense fruity character and their deep ruby colour.
The Croft Reserve Tawny is drawn from wines selected for their smoothness and mellow character. These are aged for up to seven years in oak casks in Croft’s cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. The individual wines are then blended together a few months before bottling for balance and completeness.
