(French: [ʃɑto d ikɛm]) is a Premier Cru Supérieur (Fr: Superior First Growth) wine from the Sauternes, Gironde region in the southern part of the Bordeaux vineyards known as Graves. In the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855, Château d'Yquem was the only Sauternes given this rating, indicating its perceived superiority and higher prices over all other wines of its type. Yquem's success stems largely from the site's susceptibility to attack by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea).

In light of the extremes of weather from one end of the growing season to the other, this vintage alone suffices to illustrate the dexterity, responsiveness, and expertise of the Yquem team. Overcoming the effects of poor weather (said to be unsurmountable by some...), they coped perfectly with harvesting each plot at the optimum moment.
An exciting vintage, where Yquem's diverse terroirs played a major role in juggling sugar levels that varied between rich, botrytised grapes and those less affected by noble rot, but full of amazing flavours that contributed enormously to the wine's aromatic complexity. The cellar team still remembers the heady fragrance that emerged from the winepress.
Lovely, brilliant, golden-yellow color. Concentrated nose of apricot compote, dried fruit, and figs with vanilla and floral (jasmine and acacia blossom) aromas. The bouquet opens up after swirling in the glass to reveal extremely fresh citrus zest overtones that emphasize the wine's subtle refinement.
