A white wine with a faintly copper hue, delicate aromas of grapefruit and pear, and a crisp mineral quality in the finish. Pinot Gris is grown at our Long Green Vineyard on a steep southwest facing hill, where it thrives in well-drained schist soils. We also source a portion of the fruit from BirchView Vineyard in Hampsted, MD. The tightly clustered grapes, with their exquisite bronze-purple coloration, naturally ripen early and are usually our first harvest of the season. The wine is cool fermented to preserve delicate varietal aromas, and is bottled the following spring.
Classic Riesling aroma of honeysuckle, citrus, and apricots are followed by mouth watering acidity that perfectly balances the wine’s sweetness.
This rich, complex wine is made exclusively from chardonnay grown in the dry bench section of our South Mountain Vineyard. Fermented and aged in one and two year French oak barrels for five months, the Chardonnay Reserve shows initial notes of pineapple, grapefruit and lime; then opens to aromas of apricot and kiwi after time in the glass. Balanced acidity with citrus flavors and a long, creamy finish.
An approachable cabernet sauvignon with soft tannins and aromas of cedar, tobacco, briar fruits and plum. Boordy coined the term “Petit Cab” to distinguish this wine for its approachable nature, soft tannin structure, and appealing fruit aromas. Petit Cab will stand the test of time in your cellar quite admirably, but the less patient among us will discover that it is delicious at a young age.
This wine has a beautiful ruby hue and inviting aromas of cherry and raspberry. It is smooth, with a pleasing sweetness for easy drinking. This sweetheart blend of chambourcin and merlot grapes shows their appealing fruit aromas to best advantage and offers a light flavor and residual sweetness to round out the palate. Chambourcin-Merlot is great company at the dinner table, at a picnic, or sipped by itself; in summertime break ranks with the serious red crowd and serve slightly chilled.
The boldest of our Icon reds, this rich wine has aromas of figs, clove, and humus, with a touch of earth and black currants on the palate. Syrah is the backbone of the wines of the Rhone Valley of France, and is the signature red grape of Australia where it is known as Shiraz. We seek to give full expression to Syrah's deep purple color, savory aroma and rich flavor through our winemaking techniques, resulting in a powerful statement that is best matched at the dinner table by a steak right off the grill. A raucous bistro wine when drunk young, Boordy Syrah's tannic structure develops a velvety finesse with cellaring.
