Kaiyo Whisky "The Single" is a 7 year old whiskey, made on a coffey still in Japan, and aged in Kentucky and Tennessee bourbon barrels before spending 6 months aging in Japanese Mizunara oak. All of our whiskies are made from malted barley, un-chillfiltered, and enjoy a three-month ocean maturation that helps bring out the unique flavors that can only be obtained from Mizunara Oak.
Tasting Notes:
On the nose, this whisky is crisp and clean with fruity and floral notes. The same flavors continue on the palate with a spark of sweetness up front with vanilla, honey and jasmine, which gives way to the real star of the show: exotic fruits and lots of them. Coconut, banana, pineapple, mango, green apple, pear and honeydew take the quintessential Japanese whisky flavor profile and bring it to the next level.
