Cava de Oro Extra-Añejo is categorized as an Extra Anejo. Type is determined by age, and this spirit is aged for 12 months. Generally, Extra Añejo ("extra aged" or "ultra aged") tequilas are aged for more than three years in small oak barrels. This process creates a dark mahogany colored spirit with rich and complex flavors. The Extra Añejo category was first established in March of 2006.
