Dewar’s 15 Year Blended Scotch Whisky

Give the gift that began as a painting. In 1851, Sir Edwin Landseer created an oil-on-canvas depiction of a stag in the Scottish Highlands called, "The Monarch of the Glen." An instant masterpiece, the painting was extremely popular through the 19th century. In 1919, John Dewar and Sons purchased the painting and hung it proudly. Almost a hundred years later, master blender Stephanie Macleod used the painting as inspiration for a rare and special whiskey. Dewar's 15 Blended Scotch Whisky is a blend of very rare vintage single malt and single grain scotch whiskies. The blend is then married in oak casks fora light, velvety finish. This 15 year old is a limited release, said to only be available through January of 2015. It is a product of up to 40 different whiskies and is aged in either ex-bourbon or ex-sherry before being blended all together in oak casks to marry the whisky. Tasting Notes: The aroma initially shows a dark side to the whisky with rich, dark amber honey and lemon zest that has been lit and set in your cocktail. Oak is fairly pronounced as well. As you drink, however, those notes become brighter and sprightly. There's a mouthwatering aftertaste filled with dried fruit that entices you to go for another sip. This is a fairly easy and straight-forward blended whisky. If you're a fan of their standard bottling, this one is a nice step up. COMPRISED OF BOTH SINGLE MALT(S) AND SINGLE GRAIN(S) OFTEN FROM MANY DIFFERENT DISTILLERIES; IF SCOTCH OR IRISH MUST BE AGED FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS IN OAK BARRELS; IRISH MAY INCLUDE SINGLE POT STILL WHISKEY IN THE BLEND.
