A truly authentic handmade añejo, Tapatio is distilled to strength and bottled without dilution to retain the true flavours of the spirit. This añejo is aged for around 18 months in ex-bourbon casks.
This Excelencia Gran Reserva Extra Anejo from Tapatio shows an incredibly peppery agave character, with buttery grilled veg and a spicy kick.
Agave Pina's are harvested by Jimadores, slowly baked for 4 days, then crushed to extract the Mosto. Fermented by an 80-year old yeast culture, double-distilled in Tequilano Pot Stills, aged 8 months in used Jim Beam American oak barrels then barely filtered and bottled. Only required to be aged for 2 months, we age for 8 months in used bourbon barrels, which draws out notes of caramel, oak and smoke and ends with a smooth finish.
A big, rich and surprisingly complex spirit, especially considering that it is fresh from the still. The extra strength over the blanco allows the flavours to sing. 110 proof.
