First Run Rum is distilled from 100% fair trade certified demerara sugar. We age the rum in NEW charred and toasted oak barrels. This rum is clean on the finish and never sweetened. Mad River Maple Cask Rum begins its life as our First Rum Rum, distilled from 100% demerara sugar. We trade barrels with syrup maker Al Wood, of Wood’s Vermont Syrup Company, and he returns our rum barrels once he has finished crafting his rum barrel aged syrup. The First Run Rum is then transferred into these maple-cured barrels, and the result is a rum that is smooth and bright with a nose of tropical fruits and butterscotch flavors. Apple brandy is the original New England spirit and the reason we started the distillery at Cold Spring Farm in Warren, Vermont. We source apple cider from Vermont sources, and ferment and distill it in our Muller brandy still. We age the brandy in NEW oak barrels, just like our whiskey. The result is an American spin on a European style dry apple brandy that we call Mad Apple, A Wicked Vermont Apple Brandy. Winner, Good Food Awards.
Mad River's award winning Bourbon is based on corn from the Northeast grainshed which is organic and non-GMO. This Bourbon is a four-grain spirit with oat and wheat giving it a smoother mouth feel and longer finish. The Bourbon is aged in charred oak at the distillery in Warren, Vermont, in the heart of the Mad River Valley.
