A wild agave found only in the hills surrounding Miahuatlán, this mezcal brings forward the complex minerality and powerful flavors of the region. The tasting notes of the mature Barreno agave, harvested after 15 years, unfold in a perfect balance of aroma and flavor.
Madrecuishe is the larger cousin to Cuishe within the karwinskii agave family, about twice the weight at 400lbs and significantly wider. This mezcal contains stronger scents of smoke, earthy flavors, and a hint of banana.
Espadín offers a canvas to compare and contrast the craftsmanship of different mezcaleros, and in this young Espadín, maestro Don Bernardo's talents shine through! Smooth and approachable, with a subtle smokiness, this mezcal offers strong, earthy aromas and celebrates the depth of flavor of the sweet Espadín agave.
Miahuatlán is colloquially referred to as the ‘Land of the Karwinskii’, and Cuishe is the most common agave karwinskii varietal. Tall and slender, with thin, pale green leaves and black thorns. This mezcal is quite aromatic with tones of coffee and flowering fruits. Sweeter upon taste.
