This is a limited edition expression from the excellent Deanston distillery in the Highland region, matured for 20 years in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks and bottled at cask strength. Loads of chewy raisin and dark-chocolate-coated peanuts notes here - excellent stuff as ever from Deanston.
A first for Deanston this rare Organic Single Malt Whisky has been handmade by a small team of local craftsmen who rely on traditional distilling techniques and their own eye to ensure quality. Certified Organic from start to finish by the Organic Food Federation—from the ingredients, distillation, maturation and bottling this precious spirit was carefully hand-filled to new oak barrels and left to sleep undisturbed, for 14 years in our vaulted warehouse at Deanston Distillery.
This Highland single malt started out as Deanston’s traditional 12-year-old expression, then was filled into specially selected Cognac casks for an additional six years of maturation. The result is a whisky with a smooth, buttery nose that has touches of malt along with pineapple, coconut, vanilla, and oak notes. The taste has a good balance of honey, ginger snap cookies, pineapple, mango, and a touch of dark chocolate. The finish has lingering spices, a touch of citrus fruits, and a subtle oakiness.
With a golden, amber color and a nose filled with fresh, floral, citrus fruit complimented by sweet oaky maltiness, this Scotch screams heather honeycombs. The body displays layers of barley sugar, creamy toffee and orange hints of ginger. A long and well-balanced finish leaves the palate with notes of spicy honey.
This beautiful malt is first matured in ex-bourbon casks, from a family run cooperage in Kentucky, giving the liquid a wonderful zesty character. It is then finished in new oak barrels, which add subtle spiced aromas to the whisky.

Being located on the banks of the River Teith, the distillery is blessed with an abundance of pure, fresh water.
