Intense nose with red fruit aromas combined with complex smokiness. Tight and focused tannins on the palate. Enjoyable now but requires a few years of bottle maturation to fully integrate aging notes. Very elegant and refined finish. Château Mont-Redon owns 100 hectares (250 acres) of the most perfectly sited vineyards in the appellation. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre in this Châteauneuf-du-Pape grown in these vineyards produce wines that are generous, powerful, tannic and concentrated. The blend includes a small proportion of Counoise, Muscardin, Vaccarèse, Cinsault to achieve the perfect, elegant balance in the wine. About the Brand: Established in 1344, Château Mont Redon is one of the oldest wine-producing estates in France and the largest single property in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. They have been considered by Robert Parker, some of the greatest Châteauneuf-du-Pape he has ever tasted. The historic estate uses their centuries of expertise as growers and winemakers to help them select from top quality parcels in the Côtes du Rhône for their Réserve Mont-Redon label. Critical Acclaim: 2016: 95 points Wine Enthusiast. 93 points Wine Spectator, 95 points Vinous, 93 points Jeb Dunnuck, 91 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate "Decadent layers of blackberry and mulberry preserves are pierced by smoke and toast in this unctuous, glossy red. It's a warming, piquant sip marked by clove, cardamom and black pepper, but balanced freshly too. Tannins are fine and feathery. Oak tones are a bit flashy in youth but should meld beautifully through 2031." Wine Enthusiast "Intense raspberry and black currant compote notes form the core, which is dense in feel, with melted licorice, singed anise and warm fruitcake flavors filling in around the fruit. A solid, racy graphite edge supports all the elements through the long, grippy finish. Best from 2020 through 2035." Wine Spectator
